"The magic is in the movement, the art is in the programming, the science is in the explanation, and the fun is in the community."
- Greg Glassman - Founder of CrossFit
The word Kensho comes from the Zen tradition of Japan.
Ken means "seeing," shō means "nature", or "essence".
At Whole Health Fitness, we believe that tempering the body and mind with physical exercise is a path to better understanding ourselves, our community, and ultimately, the world. As the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba once said,
"The purpose of training is to tighten up the slack,
toughen the body, and polish the spirit."
When you experience your thresholds - the upper limits of your physical strength, and mental toughness, when it's only the burn and that voice in your head telling you to stop - this is when you are polishing your spirit, and your opportunity to connect and experience Kensho.
Move. Breathe. Connect.
Our mission is to provide a fun, safe, and positive environment for individuals to push themselves to achieve heights that were never thought possible. Whole Health Fitness and CrossFit Kensho thrive on community and that sense of welcoming new people to our extended family.
"Be Virtuous in Your Movements":
CrossFit Kensho is an advocate for proper mechanics and techniques when helping inviduals strive for their goals. Many in the extended CrossFit International family may stress speed of movements, at the expense of proper and technically sound movements.
At CrossFit Kensho, and Whole Health Fitness, your fitness and health is a priority. It will do you know good to be injured, nor will it lead to continued progress. By being virtuous in your movements, you will foster proper techniques, achieve great feats of strength and endurance, while transforming your body, mind, and spirit.
